The mandate of the Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC)

  1. To oversee and manage the Calypso Tent Season in collaboration with Calypso and Soca fraternity in Saint Lucia;
  2. In collaboration with the Calypso Tents, conduct a review of the competition rules to allow for demographic and other changes in the calypso genre to encourage wider participation;
  3. In collaboration with the Calypso Tents, prepare a schedule of the Tent Shows for the season and where possible, include shows outside of the northern quadrant of Saint Lucia.
  4. To engage and contract the relevant service providers for venue, sound, security, concessionaires, lighting, ticketing and other services, that may be required for the production of the Tent Shows up to the quarter finals;
  5. To make disbursements to all performing artists and supporting stakeholders, such as writers, arrangers, back up bands, etc., that are involved in the Calypso Tent Season, up to the Quarter-Finals;
  6. To maintain dialogue and rapport with all the stakeholders ahead and beyond the actual disbursements;
  7. To engage corporate sponsors as may be necessary, for the successful hosting of the Calypso Season in collaboration with the Calypso Tents;
  8. To work with the Carnival Planning and Management Committee CPMC, Judges and Coordinators in the hosting of the competitive component of the Tent Season;
  9. To work with and assist the ECSL in its production of the Calypso Monarch, Power & Groovy Soca Preliminaries and the Power & Groovy Soca Monarch. The Carnival Music Management Committee will continue to be the principle stakeholder in the production of these events;
  10. In any negotiations between the Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC) and the Events Company of St. Lucia Inc., the representatives of the ECSL on the CMMC shall not be a member of the negotiating team;
  11. To account for all income received from gate receipts, sponsorships and other revenue streams throughout the Calypso Season; and, 
  12. To provide a detailed report, inclusive of Financial Statements and overall review of the Calypso Season;

The Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC) shall consist of five (5) members as follows:

  1. The Chairperson to be appointed by Minister with responsibility for Creative Industries and Culture;
  2. The Accountant in the Ministry with responsibility for Creative Industries and Culture; and
  3. Three (3) persons from the Calypso and Soca Tents to be appointed by the Minister with responsibility for Creative Industries and Culture;
