18 students took the stage yesterday, June 5, 2025, during the inaugural National Primary Schools Calypso & Soca Competition at the Mindoo Phillip Park. In a historic move to deepen cultural engagement and ensure the sustainability of the festival, the long-running National Schools Calypso Competition has been reimagined into separate Primary and Secondary School competitions. This year also marked the debut of the Soca component of the competition, a bold step in nurturing talent at every level of youth development.

Ave Maria Girls Primary walked away with the Calypso Champions title with their calypsonian Zizi, who is no stranger to the Schools Calypso stage. Baby K from the Vide Bouteille Primary coveted the title for the inaugural National Primary Schools Soca competition.
