The judging and parade of the carnival bands will be held on Monday July 15th and Tuesday 16th July, 2024.
The first Band will leave the Choc Round about 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 15th 2024, and at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday 16th July 2024 the parade will end at 7:00p.m.
Proposed Route for the Parade of Bands
The parade of the Bands will commence at the Choc Round About and head south utilizing the south bound lanes of the dual carriageway towards the Vigie Round About.
At the Vigie Round About the Bands will turn right onto the John Compton Highway, and head to the direction of the city. The bands will make a left turn from the John Compton Highway onto Jn Baptiste Street. The Bands will then make a right turn onto Darling Road. The parade will then turn right onto Jeremie Street then left onto Peynier Street, right onto Micoud Street, right onto Manoel Street and right onto Jeremie Street. Whilst on Jeremie Street the bands will make a left turn onto John Compton highway and proceed north.
At the Vigie Round About the bands will turn right onto the south bound lanes of the dual carriage way, they will head north where the parade of the bands will culminate at the Choc Round about.
Traffic Flow and Parking
There should be absolutely NO PARKING on the following Streets:
Brazil Street Chaussee Road Manoel Street Micoud Street Peynier Street Jeremie Street Jn Baptiste Street John Compton Highway (near Vendors Arcade) Darling Road form Jn Baptiste Street to Barnard Hill Bridge Street
Brazil Street
This street will be utilized as a main access for vehicular traffic entering and exiting the city. There must be absolutely no parking along this street. All efforts must be made to ensure the continuous flow of traffic along this street.
Chaussee Road
This road will be utilized as a main access for vehicular traffic entering and leaving the city. There will be no parking along this road. All efforts must be made to ensure the continuous flow of traffic along this road. In the event of an emergency, adjoining streets/roads must be utilized to filter vehicular traffic.
Castries /Sir Julian R. Hunte Highway
Vehicles travelling north bound from Castries will utilize the Castries/ Choc dual carriageway, they will be restricted to the outer lane only. On return of the first band headed north onto the Vigie Round about, north bound lanes of the dual carriageway will be closed to the general public and will be utilized only by first responders.
The inner lane on the Castries / Choc dual carriageway must be free from vehicular traffic at all times and which will be utilized for emergency purposes only.
The relevant signage must be put in place to direct motorists.
All vehicles heading towards the city from Gros-Islet must turn left at the Marisule Corinth intersection into Grand Riviere and utilize the Morne Du-don/Balata Road with the EXCEPTION of vehicles heading to Sunny Acres.
Vehicles travelling into Sunny Acres must be escorted by a Police Outrider from the Choc roundabout.
Proper signage must be placed at the Marisule /Corinth intersection, and also the Union Round About. These areas must be manned at all times.
Road Closures
The Marisule/ Corinth intersection will be closed to all vehicular traffic travelling south bound.
The John Compton Highway will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
The John Compton Highway will be closed from the Vigie Round-about
John Compton Highway will be closed at its intersection with Desir Avenue
Reclamation Grounds/ Carl Crescent Street will be closed at its intersection Jn. Baptiste Street.
Darling Road will be closed at its intersection with the George the fifth Park the and Gros Islet Bus terminal.
Carl Crescent Street will be closed at its intersection with Jeremie Street.
Jeremie Street will be closed at its intersection with Chaussee Road.
Chisel Street will be closed at the intersection of Victoria Street.
Peynier Street at its intersection with Jeremie Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
Laborie Street at its intersection with the William Peter Boulevard.
Jeremie Street at its intersection with Bridge Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic.
Inner Relief Road will be utilized as main entry and exit for Omni Buses. It will also be utilized as a bus hub for several bus stands.
Vehicle Routing
Vehicles traveling from Morne Fortune into the city will travel as normal along the Manoel Street.
Buses traveling from La Toc will be directed to Inner Relief Road.
Vehicles traveling South-bound on Brazil Street will continue along Brazil Street and then left onto Bridge Street or Right onto La Toc Road.
Vehicles travelling North-bound from Castries will continue along the Castries dual carriageway adhering to the right lane restrictions. (Northbound traffic will be suspended at the arrival of the first band at Vigie Round about).
Vehicles travelling South-bound from Gros-Islet will travel along the Grand Riviere Road to Balata, and then utilize the Balata/Morne Du Don Road to exit.
La Pansee Road to be made one-way for vehicles exiting the city.
Morne Du-don Road to be made one-way for vehicular traffic entering the city.
Tow Away Facilities /Wrecker
This system is organized for vehicles causing an obstruction to motor vehicular traffic. A wrecker will be at the disposal of the Police and will be utilized as deemed necessary.
Towed away vehicles will be ticketed by traffic personnel.
No Entry
Castries /Sir Julian R. Hunte Highway from the intersection of Marisule/Corinth roads.
Vigie Round About Inner Lane dual carriageway north bound.
Bisee Road Vide Boutielle Highway intersection.
Sunny Acres Round about/ south Bound Lanes.
