Lucian Carnival Introduces Official Registration Process for Road March Competition

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee officially announces an official registration process for the annual road march competition. This marks a critical advancement in the strengthening the structure and ensuring transparency in what is, a highly sort after accolade in Lucian Carnival.

While the Road March title recognizes the song that dominates the two-day parade at key, anonymous judging points during the two-day parade of the bands. Now artists are required to formally register their entries to be eligible for consideration.

Moreover, the CPMC wishes to inform entrants of the newly regulations that must be adhered to for a seamless process;

1. Eligibility

• Songs must be released after the conclusion of the previous Carnival season.
• The artiste must be a Saint Lucian national or resident and in the case of two or more artistes, one artiste must be Saint Lucian
• Entries must be registered with the Carnival Planning and Management Committee by the published deadline.

2. Registration & Submission

• All entries must be submitted electronically using the official entry form.
• Submissions must include:
  • Completed entry form
  • Audio file (MP3/WAV)
• Late submissions will not be accepted.

3. Judging Criteria

• Play Count Method: The Road March winner is the song played most often at designated judging points along the parade route (Mega J to Castries) on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
• Tie-Breaker: In case of a tie, the song with the highest score at the final judging point will be declared the winner.

4. Judging Schedule

• Carnival Monday: Judging begins at 10:00 AM at designated points.
• Carnival Tuesday: Final judging continues along the parade route, with results announced on the following day, at the announcement of results.

5. Prizes

• Cash Award: EC$10,000
• Trophy: Official Road March Champion Trophy.
• Title: Declared as the Road March Champion of Lucian Carnival.

6. Disqualification

• Songs not registered or submitted by the deadline.
• Songs not played at designated judging points.

7. Announcement

• The Road March winner will be announced on Wednesday immediately after Lucian Carnival.

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee recognizes Road March as the song that defines the Lucian Carnival road experience and resonates with revelers, local and visitors alike. This initiative to introduce a structured competition, will strengthen the platform and thus elevate the recognition of artists and producers who shape the sound and spirit of Lucian Carnival.
