The following road closures and diversions will be implemented for the hosting of the Parade of the Bands for Saint Lucia Carnival 2023. The implementation of the traffic diversions and road closures will take effect on Monday, 17 July from 9:00 a.m. and Tuesday, 18 July, from 11:00 a.m.
The public is hereby informed of the closure of the Choc and John Compton Highway. This closure will commence at the Choc Round About to the Castries Waterfront. These closures will extend to Jn Baptiste Street, Darling Road, and Jeremie Street respectively.
The parade of the bands will commence at the Choc Roundabout and will head south to the city of Castries. Vehicles traveling north from the city will utilize the La Clery access to the Vigie roundabout, and head north on the outer lane of the dual carriageway. The inner lane will be utilized only by emergency personnel. All vehicles heading south towards the city must detour left at the Marisule Corinth intersection into Grand Riviere utilizing the Morne Du-don/Balata Road.
On the return leg of the parade of the bands, the Vigie Roundabout, northbound lanes of the dual carriageway will be closed to the motoring public. All necessary signage will be put in place to ensure that all road users are properly directed. All Traffic signs and control devices are to be adhered to during this period.
The general public is advised that any vehicles parked indiscriminately along the parade route will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Police personnel will be at all major intersections to assist in providing guidance and direction.
