59 Schools Scheduled to Audition for National Schools Calypso and Soca Competition

The finalists for the National Schools Calypso and Soca Competition have been announced. The hallmark event for Lucian Junior Carnival is set for Wednesday July 3rd and Friday June 5th for primary and secondary schools respectively.

In a closed audition, fifty-nine (59) schools across Saint Lucia auditioned to be a part of this year’s competition, illustrating their vocal abilities for the culture. The National Schools Calypso and Soca Competition will be divided into two segments: infant/primary schools and secondary schools. In the calypso category, schools emerging successful are as follows;

In its second year, the National Primary and Secondary Soca competition has reemerged as an exciting component of Lucian Junior Carnival. At this year’s auditions, judges assessed lyrical content, stage presence, vocal delivery, and overall artistic impact, to determine the young artists who would advance to the final stage of competition.

The National Schools Junior Calypso and Soca Competition forms part of the broader Lucian Junior Carnival Season. This festival comprises five (5) key activities, the National Schools Tour, National Primary Calypso and Soca Competition, National Secondary Calypso and Soca Competition, National Junior Parade of the Bands and the inaugural National Schools Panorama Competition. These initiatives aim to nurture young artists and ensure sustainable cultural growth and empower youth involved in the vibrant musical and cultural heritage of Saint Lucia.
