History and Triumph: Kisha Kay and Ezra D’ Funmachine Reign Supreme

Saint Lucia’s biggest celebration of music and culture reached a thrilling climax as the island’s top performers battled for Groovy and Power Soca supremacy at the 2026 Lucian Carnival Groovy and Power Soca Monarch Finals.

In a year of firsts, Kisha Kay has made history, becoming the first woman artist to be crowned Groovy Soca Monarch. Kisha Kay, whose career spans well over a decade, captured the attention of the judges and the hearts of the audience in her contribution entitled, ‘Done’.  

In the Power Soca category, Ezra D’ Funmachine delivered a power-packed performance of ‘Salute’, ushering his audience through an explosive journey of military distinction capturing the Power Soca Monarch title. Ezra D’Funmachine and Kisha Kay are both recipients of a grand prize of EC $40,000 each. The results of the 2026 Groovy and Power Soca Monarch Competition are as follows:

The 2026 Groovy and Power Soca competition was held at the Sab, Vigie on Friday, July 10.  The exciting weekend of competition continues with the National Calypso Monarch on Saturday, 11 July, followed by the Republic Bank Panorama Competition on Sunday 12 July, and King and Queen of the Bands on Monday, 13 July.
