Junior Parade of the Bands Showcases the Next Generation of Lucian Carnival Enthusiasts

The Lucian Junior Festival culminated with the Junior Carnival, Parade of the bands on Sunday July 12, 2026. Saint Lucia’s culture and rich carnival heritage was steeped into the parade which showcased, vibrancy, colour and talent.

Six (6) junior bands paraded throughout the Castries city circuit with spectacular, locally made costumes, each depicting a theme of their choosing. The bands included, Just Us Kids Carnival Band, Creative Mas Jr. Carnival Band, Happy Feet Junior Band, Nous Wivay Junior Carnival Band, R&E Junior Carnival Band and Spectrum Warriors. 

For the Spectrum Warriors, it was a first-time experience for young people with autism to experience the Junior Carnival Festival. The initiative was conceptualised by the Helen Association for Persons with Autism and supported by the Carnival Planning and Management Committee.

The 2026 Junior Carnival Festival is a signature of the Lucian Carnival calendar and feeds directly into its cultural development and sustainability pillars, promoting youth engagement, artistic mentorship, and the preservation of Saint Lucia’s rich Carnival traditions.

This year’s junior activities also included a Schools Tour, the National Primary and Secondary Schools Soca and Calypso Monarch Competitions, and the National Schools Pan Festival.
